Dried belly button mushroom powder increases insulin sensitivity, reduces fat mass
If you take a few teaspoons of dried mushroom powder every day, your insulin sensitivity will increase and your fat mass will decrease.
Hadiseh Hashemi Yusefabad, a dietitian from Ahvaz Jundishapur University, gave 19 type-2 diabetics aged 20-50 16 grams of dried belly button mushroom powder every day for 8 weeks. That will be about 8 teaspoons. The test subjects sprinkled the powder over their vegetables or mixed it into their yogurt.
An approximately equal and comparable control group of diabetics was given corn powder.
At the end of the 8 weeks, the concentration of fructosamine [FTS] in the subjects' blood had decreased by 17 percent. High fructosamine levels indicate a long-term elevated glucose concentration and are a marker for diabetes.
Supplementation also lowered insulin levels in the early morning [FBS].
Adding the mushroom powder to the diet reduced the subjects' insulin resistance by 23 percent.

Yusefabad published yet another paper in 2021, based on the same experiment. That article appeared in the Scientific Journal of Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences. [SJKU 2021; 26(3):25-36.]
We can only read the abstract. It contains a sentence that we would like to share with you. Here it comes.
"The patients in the intervention group had a significant decrease in waist circumference and also lower weight at the end of the study compared to the baseline (P < 0.05)."
Mushrooms contain sugar chains - beta-glucans, to be precise - which have been shown in in vitro research [Food Chem. 2014 Feb 15;145:198-204] and animal studies [BMC Complement Altern Med. 2012 Dec 21;12:261.] activate the glucose transporter GLUT4 in cells via AMPK. Muscles and organs can absorb glucose via GLUT4.
This is of course extremely interesting. Here we have a natural and inexpensive drug, free of side effects, that improves body composition by apparently selectively increasing the uptake of glucose by cells.
More coming soon.
