That's how strong the positive cardiovascular effects of amla are

Berries are good for heart and blood vessels. Goji berries, cranberries, blueberries, all improve biomarkers that cardiologists associate with cardiovascular health. No wonder that supplementation with amla berries, which come from the Indian tree Emblica officinalis [synonym: Phyllanthus emblica], also has a positive effect on biomarkers such as the concentration of glucose, HDL, LDL and CRP in the blood.

Meta-study
An Iranian group of researchers collected half a dozen trials in which subjects were given a daily supplement containing an extract of amla berries for several consecutive months. Most subjects had a normal BMI and were 40-58 years old.

Some of the test subjects were diabetic, others were healthy.

Results
Amla supplementation lowered the concentration of the 'bad cholesterol' LDL, glucose levels early in the morning before breakfast and triglycerides. Amla also increased the concentration of the 'good cholesterol' HDL and at the same time reduced the activity of the inflammatory protein CRP.

All of these effects are beneficial.

The effect of supplementation was more convincing the higher the dose. 'Higher' in this case means more than 1 gram of extract per day.
