Just like pinitol, piceatannol may rejuvenate the skin - but in a slightly different way
The day before yesterday we wrote about the positive effect of pinitol on the skin. Eleven years earlier we discussed another study in which piceatannol, a completely different type of compound than pinitol, does much the same thing. And today we came across a Japanese in vitro study with the same outcome. Would pinitol and piceatannol enhance each other's effect on the skin?
Study
In this study, the Japanese irradiated skin cells with UV light and then looked at whether piceatannol modulated the response of the cells. Piceatannol is a metabolite of resveratrol that is produced in the body, but is also present in herbs, fruits and vegetables. Relatively large concentrations are present in the seeds of passion fruits.

Speculation
Pinitol and piceatannol achieve the same effect in skin cells, but in a different way. In theory, these two substances are ideally suited to be combined in a skinceutical formula.
