Thirty grams of oyster mushroom per day lowers blood pressure and increases insulin sensitivity

Consuming a small amount of oyster mushrooms every day lowers blood pressure and improves insulin sensitivity - reducing the amount of glucose in the bloodstream. The positive effects of oyster mushroom are clearly demonstrable even with an intake of 30 grams per day.

Study
In 2013, biochemists from Jahangirnagar University in Bangladesh published an experiment in which 27 men aged 32-68 participated as subjects. All men had type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure.

The men took 2 capsules of dried oyster mushroom 3 times a day for 3 months. In total, the men took 6 capsules per day. Each capsule contained 500 milligrams of powder. There was no placebo group.

The researchers had made their oyster mushroom powder themselves. They had dried oyster mushrooms in the sun, ground them and put them in capsules.

Fresh oyster mushroom consists of 90-95 percent water. The drying process reduced the water content to 5 percent, the researchers write. This implies that the 3 grams of dried oyster mushroom that the test subjects consumed daily in the form of capsules corresponds to approximately 30 grams of fresh oyster mushroom.

Results
Administration of dried oyster mushroom reduced systole and diastole by 16 and 10 points, respectively. The decrease was statistically significant.

The fasting glucose level decreased by 1.9 points. The concentration of HbA1c, a marker for exposure to a high glucose level over a longer period, decreased by 1.1 points.

No adverse effects
During the experiment, the researchers monitored the concentration of creatinine in the blood of the test subjects. The concentration of creatinine is a marker for kidney health [if you do not use creatine supplements]. The concentration of creatinine did not change.

Polyacetylenes for diabetics (and bodybuilders)
This research suggests that falcarinol and falcarindiol stimulate the uptake of glucose by muscle cells, and that falcarinol can also stop the growth of fat cells.

Q10 makes cells more sensitive to insulin
Australian molecular scientists have discovered that insulin sensitivity increases as the concentration of Q10 rises in the mitochondria of the cells.

Intermittent fasting may prevent diabetes type-2
According to this study, intermittent fasting improves insulin sensitivity and blood pressure.
