Vitamin D supplement reduces flu risk, says meta-study
There is so much fuss about corona that the old-fashioned flu no longer seems to exist. Maybe the situation will return to normal one day, and hospitals will just be full of flu patients every winter. Just like before. And if it comes to that, then thanks to a Chinese meta-study we will already know what we can do about it. We just need to boost the collective vitamin D level. Just like with corona.
Study
In the trials, researchers had experimented with vitamin D supplementation on a total of 4859 subjects.
The duration of supplementation ranged from 1-18 months, the daily dose ranged from 500-6800 units. In a number of studies, the researchers gave their subjects a hefty dose of tens of thousands of units per week, or even hundreds of thousands of units per month.

The researchers found no evidence of bias, the figure above shows. So it does not appear that only studies with good results have been published, and studies with less favorable results are gathering dust unpublished in a desk drawer.
