Mix of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and proteins improves bodybuilders' body composition
A pretty pared-down supplement mix containing a couple of grams of protein, some minerals, a handful of vitamins, caffeine and a pinch of BCAAs can help bodybuilders make their body leaner. Sports scientists at the Brazilian Mackenzie Presbyterian University gave bodybuilders the cocktail half an hour before they started training.
Six recreational bodybuilders, with an average age of 28-29, took the supplement mix every day for 4 weeks. The bodybuilders took one pill a day. On the days that they didn't train the bodybuilders took the supplement with breakfast. Six other bodybuilders were given a placebo.
The composition of the supplement is shown below.
At the end of the 4 weeks [pos] the bodybuilders in the supplement group [PAK Group] had lost almost 2 percent of their body fat. There were no clear differences in strength progression between the groups.
The bodybuilders in the supplement group had less trouble with infections like colds and flu than the placebo group. That's why the researchers think their immune system was functioning better.
