Supplementing with omega-3 fatty acids may make more sense if you take the supplement in question in the morning than if you take it in the evening. So is eating foods with substantial amounts of DHA and EPA.

Study
Tatsuya Konishi, affiliated with the Japanese food group Maruha Nichiro, [maruha-nichiro.com] published a small human study in Nutrition in 2021 involving 19 subjects aged 19-60 years.

Konishi divided his subjects into 2 groups. During 8 weeks, the subjects consumed a 60 gram sausage from the Maruha Nichiro factories in the morning and in the evening.

One sausage was as sold in Japanese stores since 2004. You can see that above. It's called Resara and it contains 1010 milligrams of DHA and 240 milligrams of EPA. The other sausage contained only small amounts of omega-3 fatty acids. So it was a placebo sausage.

One group ate the omega-3 sausage in the morning and the placebo sausage in the evening [Morning], the other group consumed the placebo sausage in the morning and the omega-3 sausage in the evening [Evening].

Results
Before and after the supplementation period, the researchers analyzed the blood of the test subjects. They found that the concentration of omega-6 fatty acids decreased in the Morning group. This did not happen in the Evening group.

In addition, the concentration of the triglycerides decreased in the Morning group. High concentrations of triglycerides increase the risk of cardiovascular disease in the long term.

In the Morning group, the concentration of total cholesterol [T-CHO] also decreased, but this decrease was negligible.
